At earth we've researched a few of the biggest concerns in graphic design today that impact our environment, detailing what we know about the advantages and disadvantages and ways we can go about addressing the issues.
This research was recognised nationally by the National Banksia Environmental Awards in 1996. Internal earth environmental systems include use of 100% Greenpower through Origin Energy, LCD screens, enviro friendly light globes, paper reuse and recycling, toner and cartridge recycling.
Externally, earth offers an environmental consultancy including assessment and alternatives including consideration of paper stock, inks, coatings, finishings, packaging, usage, reuse and carbon offsets. |

We aim to use the most environmentally friendly solutions at every level of our business. We are constantly researching and educating our clients about any new technology advances that will reduce the environmental impact of their processes. We encourage all of our clients to discuss and consider the many print purchasing options that reduce the impact on our environment. Specifically we promote the use of paper products that contain up to 100% recycled materials and paper sourced from sustainable forests.
Additionally we encourage our clients to use Earth-friendly inks and water based aqueous coatings, which are an environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional UV coatings. Furthermore, on an internal level we place a heavy emphasis on recycling all of our materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, film, wooden pallets, printing blankets, plastic ink canisters and aluminium printing plates.
We utilise computer to plate technology, which eliminates film and therefore reduces processing chemicals. earth also uses technology advanced imposition systems to minimise paper wastage in addition to FTP technology which provides a fast transfer of data files, enabling a reduction in the need for hard copy proofing. |

A top to bottom examination and analysis of all aspects of your internal and external communication and collateral is the first step we take in implementing an audit. The purpose of this audit is to ascertain the environmental impact of your processes as they stand. It is then our objective to reduce this impact and lessen the detrimental effect that your printed marketing/communications collateral has on the environment, whilst saving you money.
An audit over a 6-12 month time frame is then undertaken which will highlight where improvement has been achieved. A document will be created that states your achievements over the agreed period along with a pictorial reference which then can be used for public relations, internal communication or trade press newsletter reports thus increasing your company's positive environmental philosophy and profile.
